4-star athlete Boo Carter sets commitment date
Chattanooga (Tenn.) Brainerd four-star athlete Boo Carter announced of a top five of Colorado, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon and Tennessee in December. Now he knows when he’ll be making his college decision.
Carter announced on Twitter that he’ll make his decision June 17 at 8 p.m. at the 40/40 Club in New York City.
Carter is the No. 233 overall prospect and No. 10 athlete in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 3 player in Tennessee.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), Tennessee is the heavy favorite to land a pledge from 5-foot-10, 180-pounder. The Vols chances currently sit 92.2%.
Carter is set to take his first official visit of June on the 9th to Michigan. He’s visited Ann Arbor three times prior to the upcoming trip.
“I have a great relationship with Coach Clink (Steve Clinkscale),” Carter told On3’s EJ Holland in April. “I have a great bond with the players and the commits and I feel like if I go there, we’ll win the natty.”
Carter’s visited Tennessee more than any other school up to this point in his recruitment and was last on campus at the end of May.

“Coach Pope and Tennessee, they’re coming real hard,” Carter told On3’s Sam Spiegelman. “They call me almost every day, twice a week about getting up there. I want to see how they practice and I know the 2023 (class) is up there, the early enrollees, so I want to see how they’re doing there.”
Carter also noted in the interview with Spiegelman that the other schools in his top five are after him hard including Deion Sanders.
“Coach Deion, Coach Prime basically tells me I can play both sides of the ball — receiver or DB — it don’t matter,” Carter said. “He told I can come up and be the best player that ever came from Tennessee up there. That means I can fit in his shoes and he’s one of the best players of all time.”
Carter currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $90K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
