Ellaville (Ga.) Schley County four-star athlete Jalewis Solomon has decommitted from Auburn, he told On3.

“It came down to me making a decision pretty early,” Solomon said. “I rushed it and I just wasn’t ready when I committed. I have been thinking about this for a while and I just have to take some time and do what is best for myself. Auburn did nothing wrong, but I just had a change of heart.”

The dynamic playmaker committed to the Tigers in early August over South Carolina and Florida State in one of the most hotly contested recruitments of the summer. Both schools have stayed in contact since Solomon committed. The Gamecocks were a major factor heading into his decision and are expected to be going forward, as he’ll visit this weekend for the Florida game.

The 6-foot-0, 185-pounder is the No. 272 overall prospect and No. 10 athlete in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 31 player in Georgia.

Solomon took official visits to see both the Gamecocks and Florida State in June, and he stopped at Auburn in late July for Big Cat Weekend. He was scheduled to take an official visit to The Plains for the Iron Bowl, but that is now off the table.

Shane Beamer’s program was considered the trending school coming out of his official visits in June.

“I remember my first time up there and the fans were acting like it was my 50th time there. They love you down there regardless of who you are,” he told On3 at that time. “I love the players, the staff and everyone makes it feel like home.”
