When Caden Harris committed to Vanderbilt, Georgia was in the mix. The Bulldogs didn’t go anywhere. The communication stayed consistent, the interest was mutual and the four-star cornerback out of Brownville (Tenn.) Haywood has flipped his commitment to the SEC program in Athens not long after his official visit.

“My visit to Georgia went really well,” Harris told On3. “We went over the development, how they coach, the hard work Georgia puts in and how I can reach my goals. At Georgia, you can win in every aspect. That is what I love the most.”

The decision wasn’t easy for Harris. He has strong relationships with the coaches in Nashville, but he feels good about his future under Kirby Smart and the staff at Georgia.

“Georgia has great coaches. I love how many coaches are hands-on working with the defensives backs. I like the ability to be critiqued at all times. Coach Kirby is a defensive coach and what defensive player wouldn’t want to play for a head guy like himself? I’ll be surrounded by elite guys who have the same major goal as me too.

“The coaches at Georgia prepare their guys for the league and that is my goal. The coaches know defense and they know how to teach great technique. Georgia develops defensive backs and they have Donte (Williams), T-Rob (Travaris Robertson) and others who can teach and develop players. They are about the details and I love that.I know I will be around great coaches and great players at Georgia.”

The official visit to Georgia set this flip in motion

The official visit was a big part of this decision. He got a feeling for the culture, he sat down with coach Smart to get a better understanding of expectations and that is when it hit him.

“The visit made a big impact on my decision,” Harris said. “Coach Smart told me what Georgia is looking for. How he wants me there and what I can do in their defense means a lot to me. Talking with him, learning from coach Donte and just being around everyone had a big impact on me and where I want to be.

“Overall, what made me choose them was everyone having my best interests. I know they’ll develop me on and off the field, setting me up for life after football.”

Harris is the No. 83 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking.
