Arizona State is getting one of the top uncommitted defensive backs in the 2025 cycle on campus this weekend.

Columbus (Ohio) Walnut Ridge four-star cornerback Dawayne Galloway tells On3’s Steve Wiltfong that he’s set to be in Tempe when the Sun Devils host UCF on Saturday night. The trip will be an official visit.

Galloway is one of the many prospects who has backed off a commitment to Purdue this fall. The 5-foot-11.5, 170-pounder was pledged to the Boilermakers for three months but came back on the board on Oct. 6.

“I have decommitted from Purdue after careful thought and consideration,” Galloway wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to the staff and all involved. I am open to all programs interested in myself.”

Since reopening things last month, Galloway returned to Kentucky, the school that finished No. 2 behind Purdue back in the summer. Back in June, he logged official visits to West Virginia and Syracuse, as well as the Wildcats and Purdue. Arizona State will now look to make a move in his recruitment this weekend.

Galloway is the No. 218 overall prospect and No. 27 CB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 8 player in Ohio.

On3 ranks him higher than other recruiting services. Galloway checks in as the No. 140 recruit and No. 16 corner in the 2025 On300.

More on Arizona State Recruiting

Head coach Kenny Dillingham and the Sun Devils carried some serious recruiting momentum from the spring into the summer, but it’s been a quiet fall in Tempe. As of Nov. 6, Arizona State’s class ranks No. 48 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

April witnessed commitments from the likes of Orange (Calif.) Lutheran four-star tight end AJ Ia, Lutheran three-star safety Benjamin Alefaio, Mililani (Hi.) three-star linebacker Isaiah Iosefa and Texas City (Texas) three-star tight end Xavier Skowron.

Albuquerque (N.M.) La Cueva four-star athlete Cameron Dyer committed in June and is currently the top-ranked prospect in the class, coming in as the No. 328 overall prospect and No. 9 athlete in the cycle. Dyer and Ia are the only blue-chippers in the class with the Early Signing Period right around the corner.

Other top commits in the class include: Wahiawa (Hi.) Leilehua three-star offensive tackle Manamo’ui Muti, Long Beach (Calif.) Los Alamitos three-star interior offensive lineman Maki Stewart, San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) J Serra Catholic three-star quarterback Michael Tollefson, Houston Legacy three-star safety Joseph Smith and Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe three-star running back Demarius Robinson.
