Tuskegee (Ala.) Booker T Washington four-star cornerback Dylan Purter didn’t pick up an offer from LSU until Feb. 17. The SEC program is among 24 schools that have extended one to the 6-foot-1, 172-pounder.

Since then, the staff has stayed in constant communication, making him feel like a priority. Now, just over a month later after landing that offer, Purter is pledged to Brian Kelly and the Tigers.

“They’ve recruited me pretty heavily, staying in contact on a daily basis,” Purter told On3.

Earlier this month on March 8, Purter got down to Baton Rouge to visit for the first time. That trip made a gigantic impact on his recruitment, giving him that home feeling that he’s been after. While the offer may be fresh, Purter knows what he’s looking for at the college level and he knows that LSU can provide him with just that.

“Felt like I’ve been there forever,” he said about his visit. “Coach (Kelly) has amazing standards and holds his players accountable. (Safeties coach Jake Olsen) kept it real with me from the beginning. LSU develops top-notch defensive backs every year.”

“When I was there, the environment was a real family feeling,” Purter added. “Everybody was very welcoming and I felt at home.”

The Yellowhammer State prospect ranks as the No. 339 recruit and No. 29 corner in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 ranks him higher, as he sits at No. 171 overall in the updated On300.

His pledge is the eighth in the cycle for the Tigers, who now have the No. 1 class in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. He’s the second commit of the month for LSU, following five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys.

“Dylan Purter is a fast rising prospect and looks like one of the more athletic DB’s in the South early on in 2026,” On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power previously wrote of Purter. “Physical and has positional versatility playing a bunch of safety at the high school level.”
