4-star CB Kam Mikell sets commitment date
Another top-100 prospect is set to come off the board at the end of November.
On Sunday evening, Statesboro (Ga.) four-star cornerback Kam Mikell announced on social media that he will be committing on Thanksgiving, Nov. 23, choosing between Tennessee, Colorado, South Carolina, Kentucky, Texas A&M and Georgia.
Mikell is the No. 91 overall prospect and No. 9 CB in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 13 player in Georgia.
The Georgia Bulldogs currently have the lead for Mikell’s pledge, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). He has taken a slew of trips to Athens, including an official in May and a game visit over the weekend on Nov. 4.
“They talked to me about how they really want me there and how good of a player I can be. The coaches talked to me about the different positions I could play and how they would use me,” Mikell told On3 following his latest visit.
Tennessee, Colorado among those also in the mix for Mikell
While Mikell is listed as a cornerback, the 6-foot, 180-pounder has also shown plenty of interest in playing wide receiver at the college level. South Carolina received an OV in June, while Colorado, Tennessee and Texas A&M all had Mikell on campus this fall.
“I really enjoyed the game day atmosphere,” Mikell told Volquest following his Tennessee visit. “It was really my first game here, so I would say it was probably one of the loudest games I have been to. The fans here are really into it. It is a lot different than other places I would say. I love how their fight song is probably one of the best I have ever heard. When I was with the players, It was cool to be around them. I feel really comfortable here.”
Both Tennessee and Colorado have made splashes with Mikell throughout his recruitment due to their willingness for playing the athlete on both sides of the ball. Deion Sanders and the Buffaloes recently acquired the pledge of Mikell’s Statesboro teammate, four-star EDGE Amontrae Bradford.

“When I was talking to Bradford I asked him that — would him and Kam end up at the same school. His words to me were ‘90% likely.’ So if that’s the case, that bodes well for Colorado,” On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons said on The Inside Scoop in October.
