4-star Corey Chest focused on two; Names commitment time frame
Corey Chest is the 2023 On3 Consensus No. 76. The 6-foot-8 LivOn Fleur de Lis forward started EYBL Louisville with a 13-point, two-block, two-steal game going six of six from the field.
“I’m an energy guy; all around, I bring a great motor,” Chest told On3. “I block shots; I can finish on offense. I’ve locked myself in the gym the last few months and just got better. I watch a lot of Kevin Garnett; he plays hard and does many of the same things I do.”
The New Orleans (LA) Eleanor McMain High forward has focused on two programs. On3 caught up with Corey Chest to discuss the two schools and talk about a commitment time frame.
“I’m taking a visit to LSU on June 14,” Chest said. “I am taking a visit to Houston in late June. Those are really my top two right now; I haven’t been on or scheduled any other visits.”
Chest talks recruitment
LSU: “I’ll be visiting when the players get back and get a good feel for the team and the guys. Coach Ronnie (Hamilton) recruited me when he was at Ole Miss. He has been on me heavy, and he is a cool dude.”

Houston: “It’s like home there. I fit with what they do. I’ve been up there like five times already, so I have a good feeling about their team and the coaches. I love it there.”
“I’m talking a little with Texas A&M, but we haven’t scheduled anything,” Chest said.
Texas A&M: “I fit their style of play. They have a good program.”
Chest’s take
“I will be looking to a family feeling when I go on these visits,” Chest said. “I’ll be looking at how they run their program, both on and off the court, and how they help in the classroom. I’m planning to commit before Peach Jam.”
On3’s take
Corey Chest is a lengthy and high motor forward. He is not afraid to stick his nose into the mix. Chest is an active rebounder. He finishes well around the basket. Chest runs the floor at a high level. You would like to see him develop the ball skills and range on the jumper. He can defend multiple positions and has a projectable frame once he gets into a college strength and nutrition program.
