On March 12, JaReylan McCoy visited Florida for the first time. That trip to the Swamp changed his recruitment. Since that visit, the Gators have been the leader for the No. 163 prospect in the On3 industry Ranking. He has visited multiple times, and the four-star is back this weekend – this time he committed.

“Florida has been recruiting me the hardest for a while,” McCoy told On3. “I have had some real conversations with Florida and those coaches want to see me develop. Feeling that from them is amazing.”

Since March, Florida has been on top of McCoy’s list. Gerald Chatman, Mike Peterson, Billy Napier and other staffers have been involved. He chose the Gators for multiple reasons.

“The brotherhood the players have with each other is something I really like. The development system is big for me too. They have guys like Caleb Banks who is going to be a top five pick, so it’s hard not to want to get in a place like that where they can develop me. Coach Napier was key too. He is so real. I have never met a head coach who wants to see the players actually work at football and in the classroom just hard.”

McCoy is a big believer in the head coach at Florida.

“Coach Napier is taking Florida to a championship,” McCoy said. “It’s crazy that I can even be a part of something that he’s building.”

Texas was on his radar. McCoy was committed to LSU at one time. Ole Miss and Mississippi State are in-state schools he has visited multiple times. He wants to be in the Swamp.

“That official visit really opened my eyes more. It was amazing if I could’ve stayed, I would have. I loved it. The coaching staff cares for their players and they have a plan for their guys.

“When I was there, coach Napier was everywhere and he made me feel so comfortable. They treated me like a king and rolled out the red carpet.”
