4-star DL TJ Lindsey sets commitment date, names top five schools
TJ Lindsey has made the move from Arkansas to Florida to finish out his high school career at IMG Academy and before kicking off this season, he will announce his commitment. The four-star defensive lineman has around 40 offers and he is set to commit in the near future.
“I am going to announce my commitment on Aug. 12, my sister’s birthday,” Lindsey told On3. “It is a big decision, and I still have to think about it, but I have a couple of schools in mind. It will come down to how I fit overall in the program.”
Two may be a little higher on his list, but Lindsey still has five schools on it. Alabama, Auburn, Miami, Texas and Texas A&M will be in the mix until Lindsey announces his decision. He is not there quite yet, but he is getting close to making his mind up.
“Five schools are still up there for me, but I am starting to figure it out. It was tough at the beginning because everyone was about the same, but it honestly got a little easier over time.
“I started to see who wanted me the most, what schools I felt the best about, and those things helped me get to where I am at. Now I am getting close to picking that one school that is best for me.”
Lindsey never had the chance to visit Alabama. He visited Auburn once, Miami and Texas twice and Texas A&M around four or five times.

AUBURN: “It’s about the opportunity at Auburn. They have a new staff, it is a brand new team and Auburn has a new energy. There is a lot of opportunities there.”
MIAMI: “Miami has Coach Jason Taylor. He is the front part of my interest in Miami. It is a program with history, but the opportunity to learn and grow from a coach with his resume is something I have to really consider.”
TEXAS: “Coach Bo Davis is considered one of the best in the country. He is a great defensive line coach with a crazy resume and he is very respected. Then you have the Texas brand, it is iconic.”
TEXAS A&M: “I have some strong relationships at Texas A&M. It starts with Coach Elijah Robinson, but I really feel comfortable with the staff there. They have been in this process a long time and I know the people there care for me. They really want me to succeed.”
