4-star DL Tomuhini Topui decommits from Oregon, USC trending as new favorite

Four-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei defensive lineman Tomuhini Topui from has decommitted Oregon, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
Topui had been committed to the Ducks since October 2024, when he chose them over USC, Georgia, Texas A&M, Auburn and dozens of other offers.
Immediately after his decommitment, On3’s Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons both logged expert predictions in favor of the Trojans as the new favorite to land him.
Despite his pledge back in the fall, the Trojans have continued to push hard for him and hosted him on campus in L.A. multiple times.
Those efforts, plus the connection he has built with multiple members of the coaching staff, looking to be paying off in their favor.
“Growing up, being from LA that’s always been my dream school and stuff,” he told ScoopDuck earlier this month. “Especially now with Coach Nua, he’s always been talking to me. It’s down the street, so I might as well just take a couple visits there, see what they’re talking about. Every time I go down there it’s great vibes, picking up family vibes.

… “Especially with the new GM and my relationship with the coaches. They’ve just been coming after me. They show the same amount of love plus more even after I committed. The energy with them is getting higher and higher as I continue to talk to them.”
The Trojans are set to host him for an official visit the weekend of June 17, while Miami — another recent contender in his recruitment — is expected to have him on campus the weekend of May 30.
The 6-foot-2, 330-pounder is the No. 154 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 15 defensive lineman and No. 20 recruit in the state of California.
As a junior last fall, he notched 42 total tackles, including 10.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks, while helping lead Mater Dei to another CIF-Southern Section crown and state title.
