Just three weeks after originally committing to Nebraska, Zachary (La.) four-star EDGE Ashley Williams has decommitted from the school.

“I would like to thank the University of Nebraska, Coach Scott Frost, and Coach Mickey Joesph for your time and effort during the recruitment process. In light of recent events and lapse in communication, my family and I think it’s best that I decommit and refocus at this time. I want to express my gratitude for every opportunity and give a special shout out to Nebraska fans and Coach Joseph for his relentless efforts,” Williams said on social media.

He is the No. 372 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3 has him ranked at No. 274 in the 2023 On300 ranking.

He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $8.7k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Auburn is now the favorite to land Williams. The Tigers didn’t relent when Williams committed and had him on campus this weekend.

The 2023 Cornhuskers recruiting class was ranked 30th in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking prior to Williams’ decommitment.

“The school just felt like home and the faculty and coaches made me and my family feel like a top priority,” Williams told On3 when he committed. “It was easy because my dad told me to go to the school that felt right and was the right fit and I just knew that this was the one.”
