Since decommitting from Notre Dame at the beginning of February, Highland Home (Ala.) four-star EDGE C.J. May has stayed busy working through his recruitment once again.

Earlier this month, May trimmed his list of top schools down to four. On Thursday, the 6-foot-3.5, 220-pounder announced that he will make his decision on July 13, choosing between Auburn, Louisville, Syracuse and Washington.

May is the No. 272 overall prospect and No. 25 EDGE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 16 player in Alabama.

Washington, Louisville and Syracuse have each had May on campus for official visits, while Auburn has had him on campus for multiple unofficial visits this year. His latest trip came with Fran Brown and the Orange earlier this month on June 14.

May breaks down his top four schools

Back in April, May joined ‘The Five Star Flex’ to break down some of his then top contenders with On3’s Phillip Dukes. All four of his finalists have made big impressions on him throughout his recruitment.

Auburn: “I’ve got family there, one of my 2025 linebackers, (Auburn commit) JaKaleb Faulk, that’s my second cousin, current (Auburn) player right now Keldric Faulk is also my cousin. We’re all a tight family. It’s family, going into college football, the opportunity to play with them, that’s major. It’d be a dream, all three of us, they call it the ‘Highland Home Trifecta.’”

Louisville: “Louisville’s one of the other schools I’ve had my eye on as a kid. Now having the opportunity to explore it. Coach (Mark) Hagen does a great job of recruiting me, then I’ve got all the other coaches around it. Coach (Jeff) Brohm also does a fantastic job of recruiting me. His son, Brady, also has a tight relationship with me. We text and stuff every day. It’s a nice city, nice place. I feel like I’d be comfortable playing there.”

Syracuse: “The new coaching staff, Coach Fran (Brown) and all the coaches up there, me and Coach Nick Williams have a tight relationship. It was kinda later in my process, but it was a quick connection-type bond. Coach Nick’s one of them younger coaches and younger kids relate better with younger coaches. It’s been a ball creating a relationship with him cause he’s such a natural, funny guy. I’ve visited up there twice already. Every time I go up there it feels normal, it feels like I’m back at home at Bama. Coach Elijah Robinson, then you’ve got Coach Fran, also. Coach Fran is different. I haven’t met a head coach like him yet.”

Washington: “It’s a consistent program, they develop football players. I’ve talked to Coach (Jacob) Crawford and Coach (Jason) K(aufusi) about the players they’ve produced. just going back and researching it all, they can definitely produce talent. It’s a chance to be on the West Coast, I’m from Bama, it may be something I like, something different for me. I just feel like I could see myself there in the future if stuff was to work out, and I don’t think I’d regret it.”
