After garnering more than 20 high-profile Power Four offers, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star EDGE Shaun Scott is ready to announce his college decision.

The 6-foot-1.5, 235-pounder will commit in just over 24 hours, he announced on X Saturday afternoon. Scott does not have an official top schools list, but there is a program trending, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

USC has long been considered a top contender for Scott and has had him on campus multiple times this spring. The Trojans are battling the likes of Miami, Michigan and Texas, among others. Earlier on Saturday, Oregon insider Max Torres logged a pick in favor of USC keeping Scott in the Golden State.

They’re telling me they want me to commit and help build a a 2026 class, like something special,” Scott previously told WeAreSC. USC is recruiting Scott as a linebacker. “They’re taking California very serious. I talk to them mostly every day and they tell me every day I’m a priority. They tell me how well I fit in their defense and they want to get me over there.”

USC currently has the No. 1 class in the nation, according to the 2026 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Head coach Lincoln Riley and the Trojans will look to add another key in-state piece to the puzzle as the trail heats up this summer.

Another Mater Dei standout set to commit

Scott is the No. 339 overall prospect and No. 37 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 31 player in California.

Scott has visited multiple programs this spring and has continued to work towards finding his home at the next level. Many of his Mater Dei teammates have already done the same. Four-star defensive lineman Tomuhini Topui is a USC commit. Ohio State has commitments from five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. and four-star WR Kayden Dixon-Wyatt. Five-star offensive tackle Kodi Greene and three-star safety CJ Lavender are pledged to Washington.

Across 10 games last season, Scott compiled 29 tackles, 6.5 sacks and a pair of interceptions, according to MaxPreps. Mater Dei finished undefeated, won another CIF state title and finished as the No. 1 team nationally, per the On3 Composite Rankings.
