FSU will get another spring visit from Griffin-Haynes

Rolesville (N.C.) four-star EDGE Zavion Griffin-Haynes decommitted from North Carolina following the head-coaching change in Chapel Hill at the end of last season.

He’s still considering the Tar Heels and new head coach Bill Belichick, but he’s also getting a look at other programs. Georgia is in that group and is set to get Griffin-Haynes on campus for an official visit this summer.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pounder announced on Saturday that he’s locked in an OV with the Bulldogs for the weekend of June 6.

UGA’s push for Griffin-Haynes is nothing new. The Dawgs have been in the mix since the fall, months before he decommitted from North Carolina. After landing an offer in September, Griffin-Haynes discussed his interest in UGA with On3’s Jeremy Johnson.

“The love and time they put into the program they make sure their players are good in all aspects (standout),” Griffin-Haynes said. “They’re also genuine. They’re not going tell you anything wrong and they want the best (to play for them).”

The Bulldogs now join Florida as SEC schools with locked in official visit dates. He’s set to get down to Gainesville on June 13. Ohio State, Florida State and NC State are also among the schools working the hardest to land Griffin-Haynes entering the spring.

He is the No. 225 overall prospect and No. 27 EDGE in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 14 player in North Carolina.

Looking at Georgia’s 2026 class thus far

To date, Kirby Smart and the Dawgs have five commits in their 2026 class, which ranks No. 16 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

Tustin (Calif.) Mission Viejo four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford committed in November and headlines as the No. 57 prospect and No. 9 WR in the nation. He’s one of two Golden State natives in the class, alongside Long Beach native and IMG Academy (Fla.) four-star safety Zech Fort, who pledged on Jan. 30.

“Like they say, when you know, you know,” Spafford told On3. “I definitely felt it right after we left the facility to go home from Georgia. I wanted to take my time because I didn’t want to just react off of emotion. I just wanted to make sure. And my feelings kept stable for about three weeks and I was ready to make the move.”

Fort is the No. 10 safety in the cycle and one of two defensive backs in the class, flanking Jonesboro (Ga.) four-star cornerback Jontavious Wyman. Saline (Mich.) four-star tight end Lincoln Keyes is a top-20 player at his position and currently rounds out the class with Powder Springs (Ga.) JUCO defensive lineman Seven Cloud.
