4-star IOL Jaylen Gilchrist narrows list to three schools
Back in April, Virginia Beach (Va.) Salme four-star interior offensive lineman Jaylen Gilchrist released a list of seven schools which included Alabama, Penn State, Georgia, Maryland, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Virginia.
Now, Gilchrist is down to the Bulldogs, Terrapins and Gamecocks. He released his list of three schools on social media Thursday evening.
Gilchrist is the nation’s No. 110 overall prospect, No. 9 interior offensive lineman and No. 4 recruit from Virginia in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He is the No. 116 overall recruit and No. 6 IOL in the 2025 On300.
The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Gilchrist took June official visits to South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia and Maryland. He has visited Columbia more than any other campus.

South Carolina currently leads for Gilchrist in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) with a 79.2% chance of landing his commitment. Maryland and Georgia trail in the single digits. South Carolina insider Wes Mitchell logged an expert prediction favoring the Gamecocks with a 50% confidence level back in March.
“Gilchrist has been a consistent visitor to South Carolina’s campus throughout the recruiting process and there was already some buzz last summer that the Gamecocks were in the top spot,” Mitchell wrote. “Offensive line coach Lonnie Teasley and player personnel assistant Sam Serbay have also done an excellent job of closing out their top targets, especially the ones they’ve been able to get on campus as many times as Gilchrist has visited Columbia.”
