4-star IOL Max Buchanan announces his top six schools
Sanford (Fla.) Seminole four-star interior offensive lineman Max Buchanan is pushing 30 offers. The 6-foot-4, 279-pound wants to commit to one before game one of his senior year and he has announced his top six schools.
Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Penn State and UCF are the finalists. The No. 96 prospect in the On300 has locked in official visits with each school. It starts with an official visit to Oxford this coming weekend. After Ole Miss, Buchanan takes his official visit to UCF on May 17. Clemson will host the No. 7 interior offensive lineman on May 31, Florida State on June 7, Miami on June 14 and Penn State and June 21 to finish out his official visits.
Those will factor into his decision.
“What is going to separate a school for me will be based on how my visits go,” Buchanan told On3. “I want to see how honest and truthful the people are at each school. Getting along with the players and the people on campus is so important to me. I will only be around the coaches when I am at the facility or practice, so I want to see how I get along with the players. That will be very big for me.
“How I got to six was based on relationships and the coaches being guys I like and that know how to coach. I think I can thrive in each of the six systems, so these official visits are very important.”
Buchanan was recently at UCF’s spring game. He was at Miami a couple of weeks ago. Florida State had him on campus last on March 22. He has visited Clemson and Ole Miss since last fall. Penn State is a school he visited his sophomore year.
Buchanan talks Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Ole Miss, Penn State and UCF
Clemson: “I love the town and the atmosphere around Clemson. I love how Dabo Swinney runs his program. People are happy to be there. He recruits people that want to be there and they recruit a small amount of guys. It means a lot to have an offer from Clemson.”
Florida State: “I have visited around 6-8 times and I have had teammates go there and I have a teammate committed there now. They recruit my high school and share the love with all of us. I love Coach Alex Atkins and he has a great mind about football and life. He has already taught me a lot of lessons I will use in life.”

Miami: “It is Miami. The academics are great and it is a great place to be. The head coach (Mario Cristobal) is an offensive line guy and Coach Mirabal is a great offensive line coach. I like a lot about Miami.”
Ole Miss: “If you have ever been to a game, and seen the Grove, that stands out. It sounds crazy, but I love the chandelier. I love the tailgating and the fans there. I have had friends of the family go to Ole Miss, and everyone speaks highly of it, so I have always had them on my list.”
Penn State: “Penn State always comes down to recruit me and it means a lot. They have had consistent contact with me. They were the second school to offer me and I have always thought highly of them. I was at the White Out game my sophomore year and it was a great atmosphere.”
UCF: “It is barely over 20 minutes down the road, so I have been there a lot. I know a lot of players there. We have seven players from Seminole there and I like the players and the coaches there. I have a personal relationship with Coach Darin Hinshaw‘s (Offensive coordinator) son too, so there is a lot of things that have me liking UCF.”
