4-star LB Arion Carter decommits from Memphis
Smyrna (Tenn.) four-star linebacker Arion Carter has announced his decommitment from Memphis.
Carter originally committed to the Tigers on July 20 when he was a little-known in-state recruit. But Carter started blowing up in late September, going from relatively unknown to sought-after by many of the nation’s best.
Auburn, Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and USC have all offered the four-star linebacker since the start of the season.
Carter took an official visit to Ohio State last weekend and has trips to Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee scheduled over the next month as he looks to close out his recruitment.

He was unranked in the On3 Consensus in the middle of September.
On an episode of the Inside Scoop in early October, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons explained that even Carter and his family have been thrown off guard by how quickly everything developed.
“It’s happened super fast, you know, for him and his family, I’ll say that,” Simmons said. “In talking to him and people in his circle the word overwhelmed has come up multiple times on both sides.”
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $6.2k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
