4-star LB Nasir Wyatt set to announce commitment on Friday
Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star linebacker Nasir Wyatt is ready to make his college decision.
The star defender will announce his commitment Friday, May 3 at 3 p.m. ET on the On3Recruits YouTube channel. Wyatt will choose between Oregon, Texas and Tennessee.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound linebacker is the nation’s No. 102 overall prospect, No. 12 linebacker and No. 9 recruit from California in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
As a junior, Wyatt collected 41 total tackles with 14 sacks. He also accounted for seven pass breakups and three fumbles.
Oregon trending to land the star linebacker
The Oregon Ducks currently lead in the battle for Wyatt’s commitment, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Oregon has a 96.4 percent chance of receiving his commitment, per the RPM. Multiple recruiting insiders have logged expert predictions favoring the Ducks.
“Oregon is still the school showing the most love and the visit went exactly how I wanted it to go,” Wyatt told On3 this week. “I was up there for two days and every time I go, it always feels like they are introducing me to something new.
“I feel like Coach Tosh Lupoi and Oregon have an exact plan for me to get to the quarterback and that’s what I love doing.”

Texas and Tennessee are in the fight
Tennessee hosted Wyatt on a visit in early April.
“They told me they plan on playing me at the LEO position, similar to James Pearce and Caleb (Herring), two guys that they already have working at the LEO position,” Wyatt told Volquest of the staff’s message. “It’s really just outside ‘backer; with Coach (Mike) Ekeler, Coach Ayers and Coach (Rodney) Garner running the show. They just talk about giving me the best opportunities to get to the quarterback.
“I like Coach Ekeler ’cause he’s just got that juice, he’s always fun, always hyped up and ready to go.”
He also spoke with On3 in late March about what the Longhorns bring to the table.
“I’ve heard good things about the atmosphere and I like how much defensive talent they have up there,” Wyatt said. “They have guys that play the same way I do like Colin Simmons and Anthony Hill. They have a bunch of guys that fly around. I could think I could fly around too. Coach Kwiatkowski, he’s been vocal since my sophomore year about how interested they are in me and how they feel I can fit in the scheme of their defense and fly around. I’m hearing that from him and coach Sarkisian.
“Now, they have coach Nansen over there from Arizona. Coach Nansen had offered me when he was at Arizona during my sophomore year. Now that he’s at Texas, he really wants me to come check it out and see how I fit in their scheme. They really feel confident about it from the way they’re talking about it.”
