4-star LB Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng commits to Michigan: ‘There’s no doubt in my mind that we can win a national championship’

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng received offers from some of the top college football programs in the country. As the Early Signing Period approached, his main contenders were Colorado and Michigan.
Owusu-Boateng spoke with his family over the weekend about his decision and also saw that the Wolverines upset then-No. 2 Ohio State. Michigan’s massive win helped the 6-foot-0.5, 200-pound recruit realize on Saturday that “this is where I want to go” and he has now committed to head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff.
“It definitely helped a lot,” Owusu-Boateng told On3 about how Michigan beating Ohio State impacted his decision. “Without a high-powered offense, it’s usually going to be hard to win that game. But seeing the position that coach Wink Martindale put his linebackers in, it’s really a no-brainer to play there. When you have coaches that believe in you like coach Wink, coach Moore and coach Brian Jean-Mary, that’s really hard to beat.
“On top of that, the networking that Michigan provides their student-athletes is great. It was a special place not only for me, but for my family as well. My mom fell in love with the place and my aunt fell in love with the place.”
Owusu-Boateng believes the opportunity ‘are endless’ at Michigan
Owusu-Boateng greatly thought through his decision and wanted to attend a school that not only supported him for three-to-four years, but for the rest of his life. He eventually realized that Michigan “was the best fit” for him.
What the Wolverines offer on and off the field were key reasons why the Big Ten program won out for the No. 25 player in Florida. He is confident that Michigan will help him succeed while playing at the Big House, as well as in the decades following his time in Ann Arbor.

“What Michigan can offer for my life after football for sure helped them come out on top,” said Owusu-Boateng, the No. 188 overall prospect and No. 19 linebacker in the 2025 On3 Industry Ranking. “… For me, it was about networking, life after football, academics and everything I want to do off the football field. I can get all of those things at Michigan. I can get a national championship at Michigan. I can get a great degree at Michigan. I can network at Michigan. The opportunities there are endless.”
Owusu-Boateng is confident about Michigan’s future under Moore
Owusu-Boateng, who is originally from Virginia, likes that a flight to Michigan is only between an hour-and-a-half and two hours for his family. The four-star also believes that the future is bright for the Wolverines.
Michigan’s 2025 recruiting class is currently one of the best in the country. As a result, Owusu-Boateng is excited to be a part of the Wolverines’ next chapter under Moore.
“They most definitely can win a national championship and I say that because of the coaching staff that they have there,” Owusu-Boateng said. “With the family feel that I feel at Michigan and the type of players that we’re bringing into this class, it’s a no-brainer. Everybody says we want to win national championships and if we execute on a day-to-day basis, there’s no doubt in my mind that we can win a national championship.”
