Earlier this week, Denton (Texas) Ryan four-star interior offensive lineman Marcus Garcia named his top six schools. The 6-foot-5, 270-pounder with over 30 offers named Arkansas, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State and Texas A&M as his finalists.

After thinking things over for a few days, the No. 171 overall recruit and No. 10 IOL in the 2025 On300 has set the date to announce his commitment.

“I will be committing on April 14,” Garcia told On3. “April 14 isn’t a special day or anything, it’s just one where everyone should be home and relaxing.”

In an interview earlier this week, Garcia said, “I’m starting to get that feeling and I know tons of recruits are going to commit during April to July, during that time frame, so I just want to lock that in.”

He will lock his decision in next week.

Relationships will factor in to Garcia’s decision

Plenty of schools have expressed serious interest in Garcia, but each of his top six schools have emerged as contenders via building relationships and showing the blue-chipper that he’s indeed a major priority.

“My relationships with the coaches and where the best spot is for me is one of the main things that me and my family were talking about,” Garcia told On3. “It was mostly which school is going to develop me the most, which school has a history of developing O-line, which coaching staff believes in me and wants to develop me as a player and a person.”

“They show a lot of love and that’s important for me.”
