4-Star OT Michael Uini sets commitment date
As June comes to a close, the temperatures are rising and recruiting is heating up. Recruits have been very active this month with official visits and that is leading to decisions. Four-star offensive tackle Michael Uini is one of those.
The 6-foot-7, 325-pound four-star offensive tackle out of Copperas Cove (Texas) has taken official visits to Clemson, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia in June. Uini is down to three schools and has set a commitment date.
“I will be committing to Alabama, Georgia or Michigan on June 30,” Uini told On3. “These schools have the most genuine coaching staffs. The education and life after football programs are great as well and that gives the players an amazing percentage at being successful in life, whether it’s from football or from using their degrees.”
Uini has a good idea of the school he will commit to Friday. The No. 147 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking plans finalize that decision in the coming days.
“The next few days are for me and my family to reflect and make sure the school I choose is right. I already know who i’m committing to, but we just need to make sure the decision is right. It’s a life long decision, not a 3-4 year decision.”

Alabama, Georgia and Michigan has things Uini likes
Alabama: “Bama, it’s just different the way they work out and the way coach (Nick) Saban moves around a lot of the players and how tough he is. They’re an all-time college football team and I can see it.”
Georgia: “I like the way coach (Stacy) Searels develops players and the way he’s able to put them in the league. They have one of the best rosters in the nation, not just on the o-line, but as a team, as a whole. Being able to make it to the national championship two times in a row is impressive.”
Michigan: (Coach Moore) is a big part of the reason for my interest in Michigan. When me and my dad went out there, Michigan impressed us in so many ways as far as their education and how they handle their student-athletes. Their strength and conditioning coach sat us down and gave a whole presentation about how they do things and work hard. That just really stuck out to me.”
