Four-star point guard Jeremy Fears of Joliet (Ill.) La Lumiere will announce his college decision on Thursday, January 6th, he tells On3. The 6-foot-1 floor general will decide between Illinois, Michigan, and Michigan State.

The Illinois native has been to Champaign a total of four times, so it makes sense the Fighting Illini are the favorite to land him. They are also the closest to home, only about a two-hour drive. He’s also been to Michigan and Michigan State for visits.

Jeremy Fears is the No. 32 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the No. 6 point guard and the No. 1 player in Indiana.

The junior guard discussed each of his finalists in a previous interview with On3.

Illinois

“When I watched them practice, just the intensity and just the way they play. Coach (Brad) Underwood makes them go hard and compete,” Fears said. “They have a dog mentality.”

Michigan

“I like Coach (Juwan) Howard,” Fears said. “He has a lot of talent all around and he gets a lot of good guards, good wings, a good bigs. They’re just a winning program.”

Michigan State

“MSU just stands out because of a Hall-of-Fame coach…Coach (Tom) Izzo,” Fears said. “He’s one of the greatest coaches in basketball. The players and the teams he has… he always has a winning program. And then just the NBA players they have.”
