Rowan Brumbaugh, a 6-foot-4 point guard out of Northfield (Mass.) Northfield Mount Hermon has decommitted from Northwestern, per Stadium’s Jeff Goodman.
“I love Chris Collins and the staff at Northwestern and appreciate everything they have done for me.”
Brumbaugh is the No. 81 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the No. 15 point guard and the No. 2 player in Massachusetts.
Rowan Brumbaugh was one of the few committed seniors to not sign during the early period. He told ESPN’s Jeff Borzello “I don’t think the contract is fair for the student-athlete and is one-sided for the university.”
Before deciding on Northwestern, Brumbaugh cut his list down to Maryland, Miami, Kansas, Texas, and Oregon.
We do not yet know if these same five will be involved once again.
Brumbaugh discussed his thoughts on the other schools involved in a previous interview with On3.
Maryland
“Of course it’s a hometown team, that’s awesome,” Brumbaugh said. “I have a really good relationship with Mark Turgeon, the head coach. I really like what they do with their point guards and how they use them off of ball screens. Their point guards have had success in the past. There’s a lot to like about them. They’re only about 20 minutes away.”

Miami
“Miami is awesome,” Rowan Brumbaugh said. “I love Coach (Jim) Larrañaga. I love what they do with their guards, too. They have really good guard development. Miami is a great school, too.”
Kansas
“They have a legendary coach in Bill Self,” Rowan Brumbaugh said. “He calls me a lot, checks in with me a lot. They have a great track record with guards. Kansas is also a blue-blood school, so there’s a lot to like there.”
Texas
“I like Chris Beard a lot,” Brumbaugh said. “He’s about everything I’m about… winning and just getting the job done and being tough. He’s just a basketball junkie. He has a chip on his shoulder like me. He’s done a lot with his guards at Texas Tech, and now he’s at Texas. That’s an awesome program, too.”
Oregon
“I love the Ducks,” Brumbaugh said. “I have a great relationship with their staff. Coach (Dana) Altman really likes my versatility, and how I can play on and off the ball. I also really like the Pac-12 style a lot, more pace and space.”
