Ezra Ausar, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound power forward out of Charlotte (N.C.) Liberty Heights Athletic Institute has committed to East Carolina for the class of 2022, he told On3.

He chose the Pirates over scholarship offers from Texas A&M, Wichita State, UMass, North Carolina A&T, and others.

Ausar is ranked 103rd nationally according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators on him slightly higher, ranking him 94th in the class, and No. 1 in the state of North Carolina.

Ausar breaks down his commitment to ECU

“I chose ECU because Coach (Mike) Schwartz and his staff frequently showed amazing love and support throughout the recruiting process and on my visit,” Ausar said to On3. “I trust these coaches to help and develop me to get to the next level 110%. This was a big goal for me now and I’m ready to turn dreams into reality.”

Ausar also recently discussed his game with On3’s Jamie Shaw.

“Attacking the rim and rebounding is what I do best,” Ausar told On3. “Defensively, I can guard one through five. I watch a lot of Jayson Tatum with his counter-moves and pull-up jump shots. I love the way Joel Embiid stays mean throughout the game.”

Scouting Report

“Ezra Ausar is a physical and explosive forward prospect. He has been a force on the glass, on both ends of the floor, and a uniquely switchable defender. Ausar can slide his feet on the perimeter and switch down to guard the post, sometimes all in the same possession. Ausar is an excellent passer, capable of pushing the break and initiating the offense or being played through in the half-court. He will need to continue gaining confidence in his jump shot and fine-tuning the little things. At an explosive and lengthy 6-8, 235-pounds, Ausar’s unique ability to defend, rebound, and pass make him a top 100 type prospect.” – Jamie Shaw, On3’s National Recruiting Analyst
