4-star QB Brady Smigiel names top 4 schools

Newbury Park (Calif.) four-star quarterback Brady Smigiel is down to four schools in his recruitment, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett on Sunday.
A former Florida State commit, Smigiel will now focus his attention on South Carolina, Washington, Michigan and UCLA.
Each is expected to host him for an official visit this summer, and the four-star QB has a few things at the top of his priority list when he selects his next school.
“Relationships, I would say is probably my No. 1,” Smigiel said last month on On3’s Inside Scoop recruiting show. “Obviously, you want the offense to fit. You want to love the city and the university. But I would say the biggest thing is relationships. Just being able to go somewhere where I’m going to grow as a human being, religiously, as a student. I think these schools that I have options from, I think all those schools will do that for me.
… But yeah, I would say my No. 1 thing is relationships and them really wanting me to come there as much as I want to go there.”

He was committed to the Seminoles from June 2024 to January 2025, but backed off his commitment after FSU struggled on the field and fired offensive coordinator Alex Atkins. At the time of his original commitment, he chose Florida State over Michigan, and the Wolverines are one of the biggest threats to land him.

Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore traveled out to visit him in January, and he has been impressed by the Wolverines’ new-look offensive staff.
“We loved it in Ann Arbor. We really just liked the tradition over there. Just everything about Ann Arbor we really loved,” Smigiel said. “And I have a really good relationship with coach Lindsey over there — he was at North Carolina. So right when he got that job at Michigan, I was one of the first calls. So just to be able to rekindle that relationship with coach Moore, and I plan on visiting there end of March.”
The Huskies, however, are the current favorites in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) after recent expert picks from national experts Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder is the nation’s No. 76 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 7 quarterback and No. 10 recruit in the state of California.
