4-star QB JJ Kohl puts in best performance of season so far
In one of the most anticipated game of the Iowa high school football regular season, Ankeny (Iowa) four-star quarterback JJ Kohl came out on top.
Going up against Des Moines (Iowa) Southeast Polk and five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor, Ankeny (Iowa) High pulled out a 31-14 victory.
Kohl had his best game of the season so far with 261 yards and four touchdowns on 21 completions.
He is the No. 111 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Turned in a good junior season, leading his team to a state title berth while throwing 25 touchdowns against four interceptions. Has good feet and movement skills for a bigger quarterback. Capable of extending plays and picking up first downs with his legs. Shows some creativity as a playmaker. Stands in the pocket and goes through his progressions. Has a lower carriage point and an over the top throwing motion. Quickened his release from his sophomore to junior seasons. A three-sport athlete who is capable of playing above the rim on the hardwood. Will need to keep his mechanics tight and maintain his foot quickness as a taller, bigger quarterback with longer arms. Turned in strong off-season showings at the Elite 11 and Future 50 prior to his senior season, showing an advanced feel and ability to process relative to some other top quarterbacks on hand.
