4-star QB Ryan Montgomery sets commitment date
Findlay (Ohio) four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery has set a commitment date for this Wednesday, April 17, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.
The 6-foot-2.5, 215-pounder will choose between South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
Montgomery is the No. 186 overall prospect and No. 14 QB in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 9 player in Ohio.
Montgomery has taken multiple visits to all three of his finalists in 2024 and is currently set to attend South Carolina’s spring game this weekend — which is also set to be his official visit with Shane Beamer and Co. The Gamecocks are trending for the gunslinger, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
His most recent visit came with Florida earlier this month. He caught up with On3’s Chad Simmons after the trip to The Swamp — which made another positive impact on his recruitment. He also has OVs locked in with Florida (June 14) and Georgia (June 22).
“There’s more clarity,” Montgomery told On3 about his upcoming decision. “I think this visit was really big for me, especially since I got to be around the players more and get some of my other questions answered. We’re going to see how the South Carolina visit goes. I’m super excited for that as well, but I’d say there’s a lot more clarity right now than confusion.”
Montgomery goes in-depth on each of his top three schools
Last month, Montgomery spoke at length with On3’s Phillip Dukes during the ‘Five-Star Flex’ about what makes each program stand out to him.

South Carolina: “Coach Beamer and Coach Loggains, I have a really good relationship with them. They’ve been there since Day 1. And since they started recruiting me, they’ve been true to me. I have a super special with Coach Loggains, he’s someone that I know I would love to be around for the next three to four to five years. And I know my parents would say the same. They’d be comfortable with me being there under Coach Loggains. South Carolina is a super special place, and they’re building something special. They have kind of a family vibe and a family tradition, and it’s very family-oriented.
… They’re going to work super hard but they’re going to have fun doing it. Coach Beamer is fun to be around, just getting to sit in meetings and be on the phone with him. I get nothing but good vibes from him and the whole staff there.”
Florida: “I could say the same thing about them. They’ve been true to me since they started recruiting me as well. I have a really good relationship with Coach Nape and Coach O’Hara. I’ve been there multiple times now, and the game-day atmosphere is probably the best I’ve been to. Back to them, they’re super knowledgeable guys and going there, I know I’d get developed not only as a quarterback but as a person as well. Obviously the resources down there are second to none, and the fan base and tradition there excites me.”
Georgia: “They’re the standard in college football now. Everybody is trying to get to where they’re at. Obviously back to back national championships. I know going there, I’m going to get developed to the NFL and that’s my ultimate goal. Going there under Coach Smart, he runs a great program. And it doesn’t matter they were back-to-back championships three years ago, their practice was the most intense I’ve ever seen. I know going there I’d compete against the best each a every day and that would only make me better. Coach Smart, Coach Bobo, I love a lot and would be super comfortable being arond them for the next 3-5 years.”
