Orange (Calif.) Lutheran – Orange County four-star quarterback TJ Lateef has signed with Nebraska.

Lateef is the nation’s No. 312 overall prospect in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is the No. 25 quarterback in the class and the No. 28 recruit from the state of California.

The 6-foot-1.5, 195-pound Lateef committed to the Cornhuskers on May 12, choosing Nebraska over Arizona, UCLA, Colorado and others.

“Nebraska made me feel wanted,” Lateef told On3. “The communication was heavy with the coaches since they offered me and they were very consistent. My biggest thing was always to go where I was wanted, and before the official visit they made me feel wanted, then on the official visit, they checked all of the boxes.”

This season for Orange Lutheran, Lateef has completed 71 percent of his passes for 2,080 yards and 22 touchdowns, while adding another five scores on the ground.

Back in May, On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong said that Nebraska recruited Lateef to be a guy who could immediately compete and push the two class of 2024 quarterbacks ahead of him in Lincoln.

“When Nebraska lands Dylan Raiola and Daniel Kaelin in the cycle before, it takes a guy with a certain belief and conviction in himself to get in there and compete,” Wiltfong said. “Nebraska, they’re creating a standard in this quarterback room now of guys that can get in there and really compete with each other and push each other. And TJ Lateef is a guy that they believe can come in and push these two true freshmen they have on the roster that they believe are so talented. It was the relationship, the amount of time and emphasis [they put on him]. No program coveted and loved TJ Lateef as much as Nebraska did.”
