Montgomery (Ala.) Carver four-star running back Anthony Rogers had been committed to Alabama for almost a year and a half. That commitment was terminated on Sunday.

The No. 162 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking has backed off his pledge to the Crimson Tide and opened his recruitment back up.

“It is getting close to Signing Day and I just have to look for the best opportunity for me,” Rogers told On3. “Alabama has great coaches and they did a great job recruiting me, but I just have to make sure I make the best decision for me. That is what is most important.

Rogers has taken official visits to Georgia and Ohio State this fall. That is who is will come down to.

“I will announce my decision on Signing Day (Dec. 4),” Roger said. “It will be between Georgia and Ohio State. I had great visits to both schools and I will keep talking to them, praying on it and seeing what my gut feeling is telling me. It is something I will think a lot about the next couple of weeks.”

Rogers talks recent visit to Ohio State

“The visit was good,” Rogers told On3. “I enjoyed the environment and I like their offensive system. They let me know that they want me. They feel I have an opportunity to produce there with my skill set and that they could develop and help me get to the NFL.”

He has been in contact with Carlos Locklyn and the Buckeyes consistently since the spring. Ryan Day and Locklyn spent time with Rogers this weekend and he called both “great men”. They will continue to chip away and see if they can get Rogers in their class come December.

“I’m thinking a bit more about them after this visit. They let me know that I’d be coached well and developed. And they let me know that the opportunity is there too.”

Georgia has been on Rogers’ mind since the summer

Rogers has had strong communication with Georgia over the last six months or so. Josh Crawford is the lead recruiter and the two have a strong connection.

“Coach Crawford is a great coach,” Rogers said. “He is one of the reasons why I am high on Georgia. They have a great staff and he is a big part of it.”

Their player development is something else that has Georgia in play for Rogers.

“They produce players to the NFL. They win and develop their players. That is something I am looking for.”
