4-star RB Daniel Hill sets commitment date
Four-star Meridian (Miss.) running back Daniel Hill has set a commitment date of August 23 — the day before his senior season begins. After a long recruiting process, he has narrowed down his choices to Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi State, South Carolina and USC.
“As of right now, I’d probably say there are one or two schools that have really got my attention,” Hill told On3. “But I really enjoyed the process. I’m giving everybody a chance to express to me and show me how much they really want me at their program.”
Hill said that he is done with visits for the time being after taking his official visits in June. He didn’t rule out taking visits during the season once he is committed, but July’s schedule appears to remain clear. Hill said that the official visits did not change anything because he had taken so many previous college trips, but that they did help the process.
Academics, legacy a big part of Hill’s decision
When talking about what goes into his decision in the next month and a half, Hill emphasized the importance of academics and the chance to build a legacy.
“No. 1, academics,” Hill said about what goes into his decision. “I really want to go to a school that gives me the best opportunity to graduate in three years. Because I’ll be going into college as a sophomore, really. So that would be No. 1.

“No. 2 would be having the best opportunity to build my own legacy and be the person who I am and elevate a program to a winning fashion. And be able to be a person that a city can look back on and say, ‘he came here and he did what he was supposed to do.’”
Hill said that the process has not been tough. That this was always something he has worked for, and that he is just “enjoying the process.” Part of that process has been the communication with coaching staffs across the country.
“The communication with these schools has been very good,” Hill said. “Especially Alabama, South Carolina and Tennessee. And also USC as of lately. So the communication has been very good, really throughout the whole recruiting process. So that’s something I really admire from the coaches.”
