4-star RB Deshonne Redeaux commits to USC: ‘I get to put it on for the city’

As the temperatures rise this spring, USC heats up on the recruiting trail. Lincoln Riley and the Trojans have picked up another big commitment, their 8th since the middle of February.
This commitment comes from Los Angeles (Calif.) Oaks Christian running back Deshonne Redeaux and USC beat Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, UCLA and Washington for his pledge.
“USC has always been there, and when they realized they couldn’t let me slip away late last year, things changed with them,” Redeaux told On3. “Once they turned it up and made me feel I couldn’t leave home and that there was no need for me to go anywhere else, USC became that school for me.
… They laid out their plan, they showed me that USC had everything for me and that I could be a difference-maker early in the program. They showed me I was wanted things changed.”
Redeaux was about staying home. He almost did so with UCLA. He has a great relationship with DeShaun Foster, the head coach in Westwood. A commitment to the Bruins was in place early last season, but Redeaux held off and that gave the Trojans time.

“They just made that push. I am not sure if there was one thing or one moment, but over time, a few months ago, USC just took over,” he added. “Forever in my heart, I wanted to go to USC. That is where my heart was at the start, then things got real with UCLA and some others. Now, I get to stay home, follow my and go to the school I dreamed of playing for.”
Redeaux is ready to help USC win big
The No. 143 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking couldn’t be more excited about his future inside the Coliseum.
“I get to put it on for my city,” Redeaux said. “USC has a great plan. Coach Riley is bringing in the top players, he is keeping the California kids home and he and the staff are committed to the program.
“I have heard all of these stories about what USC was back in the day and we are going to bring that back. USC football is coming back. It will be great again. I truly believe that and I am going to be a part of it. This recruiting class is going to be off the charts and USC is going to win big very soon.”
As a junior for Oaks Christian, Redeaux ran for over 1,200 yards and 17 touchdowns.
