4-star safety Cortez Redding names top eight schools

Jonesboro (Ga.) four-star safety Cortez Redding has amassed more than two dozen offers, but he’s now down to a select group of eight schools.
On Friday, Redding announced that Florida, Auburn, Indiana, Florida State, NC State, Miami, LSU and Ole Miss are the remaining contenders on his list.
Of that group, the Hurricanes (May 30), Wolf Pack (June 6), and Rebels (June 13) have already locked in summer official visits.
The Hurricanes have been trending up in his recruitment recently, and their history and culture continues to make a strong impression on him.
“I love the school and I have loved the school for the longest time,” Redding told On3’s Chad Simmons. I used to watch all the Ray Lewis and Sean Taylor videos. They came by my school multiple times and they have been showing interest for a very long time. I love they always have been honest with me and I feel like it’s a great city to go to school in and grow in.”
NC State is a school that has been deep in his recruitment since offering, and defensive backs coach Charlton Warren is among those making in-roads with him.

“NC State is a good school and the coaches are good guys,” he told Simmons. “They’re honest and they just show a lot of love. I haven’t been there before, so I can’t wait to get up there.”
Commitment timeline is in place for Redding
He has yet to visit Ole Miss, but can’t wait to check out Oxford as well. Once his official visits are done, Redding is looking to announce his final decision in August.
“I want to go where I can play and get my feet wet early for a coaching staff that develops my body and mind for the next level. Then I want a school that prepares me for life after football and teaches me about manhood, my future with a wife, kids and things like that. Those are the main four things I look for in a school.”
The 6-foot, 170-pounder is the No. 181 overall prospect in the 2026 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 15 safety and the No. 23 recruit in the Peach State.
