4-star safety Kelvin Hunter names top five schools

Florence (S.C.) West Florence four-star safety Kelvin Hunter is down to five schools in his recruitment, he announced Saturday.

Among the contenders are: Appalachian State, Auburn, Michigan, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

Hunter is the No. 253 overall prospect and No. 22 safety in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 22 safety and the No. 4 recruit in South Carolina.

On3 rates Hunter higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 190 overall prospect, No. 20 safety and No. 5 player in South Carolina.

Per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, South Carolina is the major favorite to land his commitment, leading at 98.0 percent.

Hunter has an On3 NIL Valuation of $51K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV).
