Before committing to Clemson in March, four-star safety Tae Harris of Cedartown (Ga.) was committed to Georgia. This is coming full circle in a way. Harris has decided to stay home and he has committed to another in-state school, this time it is Georgia Tech.

Quietly before Georgia Tech hosted NC State on Thursday night, the No. 53 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking spent time on the Flats with Brent Key, Tyler Santucci and Cory Peoples. Once those meetings ended, his mind was made up.

“Georgia Tech has a great staff,” Harris told On3. “Coach Peoples, coach Eley (Donald Hill-Eley), coach Santucci and coach Key are all my guys. They have my back and coach Key is turning the program, so don’t be surprised by that in the future.”

Harris wants to be a part of that movement on the Flats. He wants to be a big part.

“The coaches have been telling me how much they need me and how much they want me. The staff has been recruiting me hard since my junior season and it never stopped.

“They love my game this year, how it has been showing and they want to build around me in their defense.”

The new commit has visited Georgia Tech too many times to count. He believes in the staff, the connection is real and he gets to stay home and represent his city.

“Georgia Tech is a great college town and I am very excited about this decision,” Harris said. “It came down to family, how the coaches at Tech understand where I am coming from and how they honor my game. I did what was best for me and my family.”
