4-star SG Markus Kerr updates his recruitment
Markus Kerr is On3’s No. 77 overall player in the 2026 On3 150. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is a rising junior at Charlotte (NC) Chambers High and plays on Nike’s E16 Circuit for the Team United program.
“I’m an all around three-level scorer,” Kerr told On3. “I create for my team and I hit open shots. I’m getting stronger now, I can see that in my shooting.I watch a lot of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luka Doncic, mostly because of their pace and how they get to their spots.”
College coaches were permitted to start contacting class of 2026 prospects directly on June 15. On3 caught up with four-star Markus Kerr after a recent live viewing to discuss his recruitment.
“I have offers from Mississippi State, Wake Forest, West Virginia, and some others right now,” Kerr said. “I’ve been on campus at Wake Forest.”
WAKE FOREST: “When I went on my unofficial visit there, I was able to see how the coaches trusted their players and how their guys got into the gym a lot. They play with, like, a lot of freedom. Coach (Steve) Forbes trusts his guys and they preach defense. They like my pace, how I don’t get sped up with my game.”

MISSISSIPPI STATE: “I’m still getting to know them, and we are building. I know they made the Tournament last year and they had a freshman guard who did really well.”
WEST VIRGINIA: “I talk with them on the phone. Coach (Chester) Frazier tells me how much he likes my game and how he thinks I would fit with what they’re trying to do. He likes how I get to my spots and can score the ball.”
“I’m hearing from NC State, Michigan, Virgina Tech, Texas, Pittsburgh, and a few others,” Kerr said. “So we will see what they do.”
In Markus Kerr’s words
“Trust is big with me,” Kerr said. “How a coach coaches me really. Like, if I make a mistake, talk me through the mistake, don’t just get on me, you know. I’ll get the feeling of how they play as I go through the process, obviously, I want to be comfortable with that.
