Matthew Able, one of the top shooting guards in the 2025 class, has committed to Miami, sources told On3.

The 6-foot-4 four-star rising senior out of Sagemont Prep (FL) chose the Hurricanes over offers from Northwestern, Wake Forest, Baylor, Boston College, Xavier and others. He is ranked as On3’s No. 38 overall prospect in the country and the No. 11 shooting guard.

Able visited Miami last weekend and decided to cancel his remaining visits and commit to head coach Jim Larrañaga.

In a recent interview with On3, Able recapped his time down in Coral Gables.

Able talks Miami

“It was an amazing environment,” Able told On3. “The staff was good to me and my family and their vision for me was very clear and their goals are aligned with mine. I had a good time with the players. They are a great group of guys, a super close group. They have top-notch facilities. I haven’t seen anything better yet. Their practice facilities were great. They have two courts and always have open runs. There are pros always in there playing.”

He also spoke highly of the coaching staff.

“I got to spend a lot of time with the coaches,” Able said. “I talked with them, connected with them. We had dinner a couple of times. Their vision is the same as mine. They want to win. I want to win. And I want to be able to compete for minutes and, hopefully, a starting spot. If we win and I’m playing a big role with the team, that would hopefully put me in a position to play in the NBA.”
