4-star TE Brock Harris stays home, commits to BYU

BYU was one of the first schools to offer Saint George (Utah) Pine View tight end Brock Harris. Kalani Sitake and the staff in Provo identified Harris early and made him a target when he was a freshman. The Cougars have recruited him hard since the beginning and they have landed his commitment.
“At different times, I liked different schools, but BYU was always toward the top and it ended up being between them and Michigan when I made my decision,” Harris told On3. “Every time I would go on a visit, I had a great feeling at BYU. At different places, my feelings would vary, but at BYU, it was always the same.
“I had that comfort feeling at BYU and about BYU. I knew in my heart where I wanted to go. There wasn’t a specific visit or a certain moment, but over time, it built up with BYU. Every time I was there, I had that feeling about them.”
Harris has visited BYU over 10 times. He has visited the school where his father played baseball at more than any other program. The familiarity, the trust, and the belief led him to Provo.
“It just always felt right with the coaches BYU. As much as I went there, it was never awkward or forced, but it was always natural. Being around the staff a lot, getting to know them and the staff staying together meant a lot to me.

“Coach Sitake, coach Gilbride, coach Clark and so many others made it feel right. The people there, the plan they have for me in the offense, my religion and how they use the tight end all were big in my decision.”
The No. 80 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking was not planning to make a decision this early. He had numerous official visits lined up, he thought he would make a late summer decision, but his mind is made up.
“The vibes at BYU were too good and always the same, so I decided to lock in and commit,” Harris said. “They were pushing hard for me, and I was already leaning that way, so I knew where I wanted to go.
“I like what I am going into. The program is going up. You saw it last year, the record shows it and the offense did great. It is a great team and great program that I am committing to.”
