4-star West Virginia WR commit Rodney Gallagher visiting Penn State
Uniontown (Pa.) Laurel Highlands four-star wide receiver and West Virginia commit Rodney Gallagher will visit Penn State this weekend, he announced on Monday.
Gallagher committed to the Mountaineers in May over a group of seven other finalists, which also included the Nittany Lions. At one point prior to his initial commitment, Gallagher was heavily favored to land with the in-state program, but ultimately chose West Virginia. However, the program has struggled under head coach Neal Brown this year, and uncertainty about his future looms.
Saturday’s visit is expected to be Gallagher’s first trip to Happy Valley since April, though he’s very familiar with Penn State. The Nittany Lions have hosted him more than any other program during his recruitment.

The On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — ranks Gallagher as the No. 248 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle. He also checks in as the country’s No. 32 wide receiver and No. 3 player in Pennsylvania.
He currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $227k. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
