4-star wing Wesley Tubbs talks Cincinnati, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech visits and lays out who is next
Three-star Wesley Tubbs has filled the stat sheet through the first two sessions of EYBL play. The 6-foot-6 wing is shooting 37.5-percent from three while averaging 3.0 assists, 9.9 points, and over a steal per game.
“I bring a whole lot of versatility to the court,” Tubbs told On3. “An effort to win at all costs and do whatever the team needs me to do. I watch a lot of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jaylen Brown. They are both big guards who can do a lot of things offensively and defensively.”
College programs have taken notice of his play with Team United. On3 caught up with Wesley Tubbs after a recent game to see which college programs are the ones prioritizing him.
“Of the schools who have offered me, I’ve visited Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest so far,” Tubbs said. “Cincinnati was an official visit.
Tubbs talk recruitment
Cincinnati: “I learned a lot about how they play, their style. Coach Wes (Miller) is a new coach up there, so he is still putting in his stuff and getting his players. They like how I play hard, and I am a Coach Wes kind of player; a big and fast wing.”
Virginia Tech: “I learned how they are a well-oiled machine. Mike Young has a great system up there and has built that program. They may not have the best names, but they will be good every year.”
“I went for a football game at both Cincinnati and Virginia Tech. I loved the atmosphere at both schools. The fans really got into it,” Tubbs said.
Wake Forest: “I went up there for a practice and a game this year. Coach (Steve) Forbes is real tough on his team, but he brings out the best in them. He is hard on him, but he runs his team.”

“I don’t have any more of my junior year official visits set yet,” Tubbs said. “I’m still talking to a couple of schools. I will try to get over to SMU and Providence; both have offered. I may try and go see Xavier, too; they have not offered yet.”
Providence: “Coach (Jeff) Battle stays in touch all the time, and they are going to be good every year. They may not have the best names, but Coach (Ed) Cooley will get them to run their system, and they will win every year.”
SMU: “Coach Rob Lanier tells me how much he loves my game. He says that every team needs to have a versatile, do-it-all kind of guy. He thinks I would be able to come in and play instantly.”
“Xavier, Houston, Texas, and Alabama are some new schools who have not offered yet, but reached out to me after the live period,” Tubbs said.
Tubbs take
“I want to go to a school where I can impact instantly,” Tubbs said. “I don’t necessarily have to start, or anything, but a place where I can impact the team. My relationship with the coaches will be big, and I want to fit in with the team.”
On3’s take
Wesley Tubbs is a 6-foot-6 wing from Charlotte, North Carolina. The lefty is a ball of energy on the floor. He is very vocal and always clapping in-game. He needs to continue adding strength, but he is a good athlete with excellent length. Tubbs is best in transition when he attacks the rim. There are questions in the half-court regarding shooting, decision-making, and ball skills. He has some fluidity in the open floor and has some crafty finishes at the rim. Tubbs is a maximum effort player, and his energy bleeds throughout a team.
