4-star WR Amari Jefferson announces commitment date, names top three schools
Chattanooga (Tenn.) Baylor School four-star wide receiver Amari Jefferson has no shortage of options in his recruitment. Just before his senior year begins, Jefferson will announce his college decision.
Jefferson will make his commitment on August 5, choosing between Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.
“Anything could change, but I am pretty set on where I want to go,” Jefferson told On3. “There is still about a month to go, so there is still time to make that final decision, but me and my parents have had some big talks and we feel good about things. It just comes down to where we feel is best for me.
“Consistency, the way coaches have treated me and my family and who went the extra mile with me and my family will be big factors. In the last few days things have become more clear, so I want to lock in my commitment date.”
The only official visits Jefferson took in June were to the three schools that made his final three. He visited Alabama on June 9 and followed that up with trips to Georgia (June 16) and Tennessee (June 23).
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound pass-catcher has visited Alabama and Georgia more than any other school up to this point in his recruitment.
“Alabama has been doing it for 20-plus years and Kirby (Smart) is a product of Nick Saban,” said Jefferson, the No. 103 player in the 2024 On300. “You can just tell the way Kirby runs his program, it’s very similar to how Nick Saban runs his program at Alabama. That’s why they’re two of the best programs in the country right now. They are very similar.”
“Those schools have produced receivers the last couple years,” he added. “Alabama, you have all the first round picks they produce. Georgia has all the great receivers they’ve produced in the last couple years. That’s a big eye-opener for me.”

Tennessee’s hosted Jefferson one less time than the other two schools but the Vols had the luxury of hosting him for an official visit last.
“Everything is in a good spot right now with Tennessee,” Jefferson told On3. “I have a good connection with all the coaches. Coach Pope, coach Heup (Heupel), coach Halzle they kind of walked it out for me showing me where I would play, how they would used me and stuff like that. It was a pretty good weekend.”
Jefferson breaks down his top three
Alabama: “Alabama is wide receiver university. They have that legacy and they develop players like me.”
Georgia: “It is about the culture at Georgia. My relationship with the staff is strong and they send guys to the NFL every year.”
Tennessee: “Tennessee is the home-state school and it would be close to home. I like the staff a lot, their offense stands out and I would have great support staying in state.”
