4-star WR Derek Meadows flips commitment from LSU Tigers to Alabama Crimson Tide
Las Vegas Bishop Gorman four-star wide receiver Derek Meadows has flipped his commitment from LSU to Alabama.
He had been committed to the Tigers since July 20.
Meadows’ departure from LSU’s 2025 recruiting class comes shortly after Belleville (Mich.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Bryce Underwood flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan.
The 6-foot-6, 205-pound Meadows officially visited Alabama this summer and had the Tide in the mix before choosing to pledge to LSU. Derek’s father, DeShawn Meadows, spoke with On3 about the visit and why the family was interested in Alabama.
“Definitely was the strength and conditioning department,” Meadows said. “They’re top-notch. They have great technology. The people from academics are super duper supportive.

“I felt like I got closer to (Kalen) DeBoer during the visit. We got a chance to talk candidly to each other about the business of college football as well as Derek and his fit in the organization. He’s very strategic in his recruitment and I like the way he moves.
“Of course (Jamarcus) Shep(hard) brings the energy for sure in getting people excited. He’s also a technician with wide receivers, getting out of breaks, little nuances, football, being tough off the line.”
