4-star WR Donovan Olugbode locks in his commitment date
Donovan Olugbode is set to announce his commitment on July 5 at 4:00 p.m. ET. The four-star wide receiver at IMG Academy has over 30 offers and he will commit to Florida, Missouri, Oregon, USC or Washington later this week.
He took official visits to each of those schools and he is ready to put his name on one of their commitment lists.
“It has been a long process, but I am ready to make my decision,” Olugbode told On3. “The official visits were big for me. I got on each campus, I saw what each school had to offer, and after my last official visit, I went home and went over the pros and cons.
“My decision came down to relationships, who I felt was genuine and the offensive scheme. Those were all big factors for me.”
Olugbode is the No. 89 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking. He is out of Naperville (Ill.).
Olugbode breaks down top five programs
Florida: “I like the coaches there. I get a lot of love from coach Billy Napier and the staff. I like the way that Billy Gonzales, their wide receivers coach, develops the wide receiver position. They are telling me that I could definitely be able to play early there. They think I can help them change the program for the better and help them do good things.”

Missouri: “They are another program that would allow me to play early, get in a good role as a freshman and develop my game. Coach Jacob Peeler, he coached D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown when he was at Ole Miss. I think he and Brian Hartline are tied for sending the most receivers to the league. I like how they scheme up defenses and get the ball to their playmakers. They are going to have no problem with that going forward because they just got a top quarterback recruit in Matt Zollers. He’s consistent about getting me up there to Mizzou.”
Oregon: “I really like their offense and how they develop players. Their passing offense is really good. They throw the ball a lot. I think they had a top-five offense in passing yards last year, so their offense is explosive and what you can do in that system is impressive.”
USC: “They are telling me how they can use me in their offense. They love my game and it could translate really well to their offense. I talk to coach Dennis Simmons and coach Lincoln Riley. What Lincoln Riley can do as a play-caller and an offensive mind is big. I know he’s going to have a good quarterback in that system regardless, whether it’s a recruit or someone from the portal. He’s always going to have a good guy throwing the ball.”
Washington: “I like their offense and how it is changing. This visit is definitely big to see where they are in my top schools. I visited Arizona twice when this staff was there, so I am looking forward to my experience at Washington.”
