4-star WR Jaden Nickens names top five schools
Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon four-star wide receiver Jaden Nickens decommitted from Oklahoma on March 13.
Over seven months later, the 6-foot-2, 170-pounder is once again nearing a college decision. On Thursday evening, he named California, Georgia, Kansas, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M as his top five schools.
Upon announcing his decommitment from Oklahoma in the spring, Nickens stated that he was looking to be a dual-sport athlete and also play basketball at the next level. The former Oklahoma City Millwood and Douglass star is a shooting guard on the hardwood.
“This decommitment is all about me and my dreams. I want to experience the process more and explore with my options open, and for the colleges locking back in I’m looking to play both sports. I want to be a duel-sport Student Athlete! I have faith in myself and God that this is part of his will,” Nickens wrote.
At the end of September, Nickens announced an offer in both sports from Kansas. It’s unclear if each of his finalists have done the same. On Friday, Arizona State jumped in the mix with an offer in both football and basketball.

Nickens is the No. 370 overall prospect and No. 55 WR in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s ranked as a three-star prospect in basketball by ESPN.
The blue-chipper is one of the five top uncommitted prospects at the receiver position, as of Oct. 25. Nickens was pledged to the Sooners for over six months before coming back on the board. He would be the top-ranked prospect in both Kansas and Oklahoma State’s 2025 football classes if he were to join.
Nickens is a new addition to a loaded Sierra Canyon roster. The Trailblazers are 5-3 this season and rank No. 9 in California, according to the On3 Massey Ratings. They return to action on Friday night at home against Loyola.
