4-star WR Jordon Gidron commits to South Carolina, reclassifies to 2025: ‘They’ve always shown me love’
Columbia (S.C.) Ridge View four-star wide receiver Jordon Gidron began thinking about reclassifying around a month ago. At the same time, South Carolina started to separate itself in his recruitment.
Gidron – who received offers from more than 30 schools – felt like a top priority to the Gamecocks. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound wideout followed up on that feeling by committing to head coach Shane Beamer and his staff on Friday, along with reclassifying from the 2026 to the 2025 cycle.
“They’ve always shown me love,” Gidron told On3. “I’ve always been told to go to the school that wants you and the school that needs you. They have shown me love and I feel like I could have a chance to play early as a receiver there. That’s everything I want in a school.”
South Carolina beat out Auburn, Florida State, NC State and Ole Miss for Gidron. He has already visited the Gamecocks’ campus around half a dozen times and he hopes to enroll early at the SEC school in January.
Gidron’s high school is just over a 30-minute drive from Williams-Brice Stadium. The No. 1 player in South Carolina is excited to represent his home city and state in the garnet-and-black.
“I like that I have a chance to play early and the coaches,” said Gidron, the No. 64 overall prospect and No. 10 wide receiver in the 2026 On3 Industry Ranking. “Coach Mike Furrey has a lot of energy and coach Beamer has a lot of energy. South Carolina is close to home and my family. They are the program that I have the best connection with.”
Gidron is excited about South Carolina’s future under Shane Beamer
Gidron knew that he would commit to South Carolina a week or two ago. Once the four-star finalized his reclassification, he contacted Beamer yesterday and let him know the good news.

The Gamecocks are hosting Gidron this weekend for their matchup against No. 12 Ole Miss and he will be back on campus for the SEC match-up.
“Every time you go there, it’s electric,” Gidron said. “They played Akron two weeks ago. It was sold out and had a pumped-up environment. Every time you look on their social media page, you see that the game is sold out. There’s always a lot of energy there, especially during the night games. They have the light show for the fans. It’s really electric with a lot of energy.”
South Carolina is 3-1 this season, but Gidron thinks the Gamecocks should be undefeated. He also believes the unranked Gamecocks are underrated because they beat Kentucky 31-6 on Sept. 7. In two of its last three games, Kentucky lost by one point to No. 5 Georgia and knocked off then-undefeated and top-10 Ole Miss in Oxford.
A key reason for South Carolina’s rise is Beamer. Gidron has enjoyed building a relationship with the Gamecocks’ head man and is excited to play for him when he arrives on campus.
“Coach Beamer had a big impact on my decision,” Gidron said. “It’s his energy, the way he is trying to turn things around and how much he reached out to me… It showed how much he wanted me.”
