4-star WR Kwazi Gilmer sets commitment date
Four-star West Hills (Calif.) Sierra Canyon wide receiver Kwazi Gilmer has taken his official visits and is ready to make his commitment decision.
The No. 120 overall prospect in the On300 rankings will announce his commitment live on the On3 YouTube channel on Aug. 11 at 3 p.m. ET, and will choose between four programs.
“My finalists are Michigan State, Oklahoma, UCLA and Washington,” he told On3. “I have had good visits to those schools, I have built good relationships with the coaches and I like a lot about all four schools. Each has recruited me well, the offenses fit me and I am ready to choose one.”
The 6-foot-1, 175-pounder amassed more than 20 offers before cutting down to a top six in May. He then took official visits to UCLA, Cal, Stanford, Washington and Michigan State, which helped him narrow things down further.
“I have taken the visits I need to take and my mind is made up,” he said. “I know where I want to go and it came to the relationships with the players and coaches and where felt most at home to me.”

Gilmer previously broke down a few of his top schools
Prior to taking his official visits, Gilmer also made a stop at Oklahoma this spring, and the Sooners have remained in contention. In May, he spoke with On3 about what makes the Spartans, Bruins and Huskies stand out in his recruitment.
Michigan State: “I like the whole program. I like what they’re doing up there and I did really enjoy my visit when I first went up there. Getting the offer, getting the opportunity to go back up, I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to take that chance.’”
UCLA: “UCLA is a lot different than a lot of other places. They’re not all about glamour. They’re not going to buy Lamborghinis for the visit, they’re not going to go all over the place. Their whole thing is not photo shoots, their whole thing is player development. UCLA spends $5 million on food for the players. I saw a lot of different things at UCLA and I liked it up there. They’ve very technical on the little things, not the overall thing, and then the little things turn into the overall picture. ”
Washington: “Coach (Jamarcus Shepard) is probably one of the realest coaches I’ve ever met. He’s one of the coaches that if you’re sad, he’s going to make you happy. Coach Shep will keep it 100% no matter what and he’s a real dude.”
