4-star WR Vernell Brown III locks in his commitment date

Orlando Jones wide receiver Vernell Brown III has taken the visits he needed to take, he has had the conversations he needed to have and he has had that feeling he was looking for. The No. 33 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking is ready to announce his commitment and he will do so on July 21.
Brown’s finalists are Florida, Florida State, Miami and Ohio State.
“I’m ready,” Brown told On3. “After the official visits, I was in the car with my parents and that is when I started to figure things out. As I was asking them questions, two schools ended up at the top with the answers they were giving me. Then it just came down to which one I felt fit me the most and I have made that decision.”
Brown’s dream is to play in the NFL. That is his end goal on the football field, but there was more that went into his decision.

“It is about all aspects for me. It was not all about football, life too. I chose the school that I feel I have the best chance at maximizing all aspects at. It was about things on and the field and off the field when I made my decision.”
Florida, Florida State, Miami and Ohio State all appeal to Brown
Ohio State is the only out-of-state school on Brown’s list of finalists.
“Coach Brian Hartline and Ohio State produce receivers and develop guys at my position. It is that simple with Ohio State.”
Then you have the in-state programs. All three are fighting to be his choice.
“I have those connections to Florida, so it starts there. I like Coach Billy Gonzales too and their development is proven, so they think I can be featured in that offense.
“Florida State has a great staff. They were my second offer and they have been on me hard since. I like what Coach Mike Norvell is doing. It is about the same with Miami. I love Coach Kevin Beard and where the program is going.”
