La Mesa (Calif.) Mount Miguel five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington is beginning to see the finish line in his recruitment. In fact, the 6-foot-2.5, 180-pounder now knows when he’d like to make his commitment.

The elite Golden State defensive back is set to announce his decision on July 5. He will choose between Alabama, Penn State, Texas A&M, Oregon and USC, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

Arrington is the No. 13 overall prospect and top-ranked CB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 2 player in California.

That decision date will follow a string of official visits to his top contenders. Penn State (May 2), Texas A&M (June 5), Alabama (June 13), USC (June 17) and Oregon (June 20) have locked in OVs with Arrington.

“I am about relationships and who’s been in it with me,” Arrington told On3 last month when naming his top six — Georgia did not make the latest cut. “I can see myself at any of these schools and they all know how to develop players.”

Arrington is coming off a spring game visit to Oregon over the weekend and was visited by Alabama on Monday. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently favors Texas A&M, though the race for the five-star remains wide open between his finalists heading into the home stretch.

Coach’s take on Brandon Arrington

When speaking with On3’s Chad Simmons last month, Mount Miguel head coach Verlain Betofe explained what makes Arrington such an outstanding prospect:

“Brandon is one of one,” Betofe said. “A lot of guys are fast. A lot of guys are tall and have length. It is rare to have a guy like Brandon, who can do it all.”

“What really makes him different is how competitive is. Brandon hates to lose. He can go out there and shut down any receiver one-on-one in the country because of his talent and that drive. The little things really separate him.”

“Brandon is olympic fast, and he is a track star too, so once he focuses fully on football, it will be scary. Brandon has never played football full time, so once he does and continues to develop, he has a chance to go down as the best to come out of San Diego and go in the first round of the NFL Draft.”
