Marietta (Ga.) Sprayberry cornerback Jorden Edmonds has been thinking about committing to Alabama for some time. The four-star almost made the call on his birthday in February, but he held off. He thought he would take a few visits this spring, then make a decision, but he only took one. It was to Tuscaloosa and that was all it took.

“It came down to relationships, development and how I grew up following the program that helped me choose Alabama,” Edmonds told On3. “I am from Pittsburgh, but my brother was an Alabama fan, and when I moved down to Atlanta in the 7th grade, I started to follow Alabama.

“From that point, I followed them, then when I started getting recruited by them, I knew I liked them a lot. My first visit was around January of 2024 and I got the offer. I went to spring practice, the Georgia game, then for another Junior Day and Alabama just kept moving up my list.

“I was leaning toward Alabama from the day I got the offer, but I liked Georgia, Tennessee and some other schools. The relationships developed and that is what took Alabama to the top.”

Courtney Morgan was involved. Jatavis Sanders played a role. Another key relationship was Maurice Linguist.

“It was different with coach Mo. If he wasn’t there, I am not sure if I would be committing to Alabama. He is a great guy, he is a great coach and we have that type of relationship.

“My connections are strong at Alabama. If I am not talking with coach Mo, then I have coach Morgan or coach Sanders to chop it up with. That is what makes Alabama special to me. The people and the connections are real.”

Kalen DeBoer took over in 2024, Alabama was a perfect 7-0 at home and won 9 games last season. The No. 17 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking was at Alabama’s win over Georgia and he is excited about what he is going into in Tuscaloosa.

“The culture is great,” Edmonds said. “It feels like family for me at Alabama. The coaches bring their families around, I feel very comfortable around everyone and it makes it easy for me to be there.

“It is a top program too. Alabama has great fans, the atmosphere fits me and it is going to be great playing in that stadium. There is a lot that I like about Alabama.”
