5-star DL Anthony Lucas wants to make history at Texas A&M
Notre Dame hung around late. UCLA gave him something to think about academically. LSU was the early favorite.
But the race came down to two SEC programs, Alabama and Texas A&M, for the defensive lineman Anthony Lucas.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound five-star out of Scottsdale (Ari.) Chaparral ranks No. 27 in the On3 Consensus and he is a national talent.
This was Nick Saban vs. Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies won out.
“I want to make history at Texas A&M,” Lucas said. “I could go into Alabama and be part of the winning legacy or go to Texas A&M and change things. My decision was to change things at Texas A&M.”
This was not an easy decision for the Under Armour All-American. He went back and forth late in the process.
“I had different schools running through my mind all throughout the last six months. I probably had five or six different schools on top of my list at different times, and even on Monday and Tuesday, I was going back and forth between Alabama and Texas A&M.

“On Tuesday, I made my decision, and it was Texas A&M. I can be part of a recruiting class that starts a legacy there.”
The future in College Station is what it’s all about for Lucas.
“Jimbo has coached and played for championships, so he knows how to win, and we are about to do that at Texas A&M,” Lucas said.
“He has been around great coaches, he has coached under great coaches, and he is about to push the Texas A&M program to the top.
“This is going to be the best recruiting class in Texas A&M history and we are about to change things on the field.”
