5-star EDGE Omari Abor narrows list to final 5 schools
Five-star EDGE Omari Abor of Duncanville (Texas) High is down to five schools – Texas, Ohio State, LSU, Alabama and Texas A&M.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder previously announced a top 10 in April. He cut Missouri, Georgia, Oklahoma, Arizona State and USC this time around.
Abor visited schools all over the country this summer. He attended Ohio State on June 4, LSU on June 11, Oklahoma on 18, Alabama on June 25 and Texas A&M on July 31. All of the visits were official visits, except for the one to College Station.
Abor ranks as the No. 30 player in the country and the 10th ranked player in the Lone Star State. He talked with On3 about each of his finalists.
Omari Abor likes Longhorn coaches
“I started off with Texas first because all of their staff members and coaches are incredible,” Omari Abor said. “Especially, the strength and conditioning coach. Coach (Steve) Sarkisian was definitely a game-changer for Texas.”
Omari Abor high on OSU assistant
“Ohio State produces freak athletes at the defensive end position every year, and that really says a lot,“ Abor said. “All I can say is coach (Larry) Johnson is that dude.”

A&M’s success catches Abor’s focus
“Texas A&M will most definitely be a top school for me any day of the week,” Abor said. “All I can say is that if they get the people that they should get, and plus on top of that I’m trying to play with my dawgs.”
After a semifinal loss to Southlake Carroll in 2020, he looks to lead Duncanville to another deep playoff run. Abor and the Panthers will begin their season tonight, as they play the No. 1 team in the nation Mater Dei.
